TARGET CANDIDATESThis course is designed for: - Exercise and fitness enthusiasts who wish to become Exercise to Music Instructors
- Individuals who wish to change careers
- Those who are already working as Fitness Instructors but who have few or no relevant qualifications
PREREQUISITES- Candidates must be aged 16 or over
There are no other entry requirements; however, it is strongly recommended that you have experience of ETM classes. If you do not have experience you should attend at least ten ETM classes before you attend the practical element of the course so that you are familiar with the moves and to help your co-ordination. COURSE DESCRIPTIONCourses are held in Cambridge and Norwich over 10/11 days (see Course Dates below) and cover the following subjects: - Level 2 Exercise & Fitness Knowledge:
- Bones and joints
- Muscles, muscle actions and energy systems
- Cardio-respiratory system
- Components of fitness and principles of training
- Health, Safety & Professionalism in Exercise & Fitness Instruction
- Exercise to Music Instruction:
- Safe and effective warm-up
- Aerobic component
- Muscle strength/endurance (MSE) component
- Cool down, including exercises to develop flexibility
ASSESSMENT PROCEDUREAssessment is in five parts: - Multiple choice Theory Paper
- Health, Safety & Professionalism in Exercise & Fitness Instruction Worksheet
- Plan and prepare an Exercise to Music session
- Note: you will be required to bring two volunteers with you to take part in the exercise session
- Instruct an Exercise to Music session
- Evaluate the session and develop personal coaching practice
