AIMS OF THE QUALIFICATIONThe aim of the Certificate is to give candidates the skills and underpinning knowledge to enable them to plan a variety of advanced exercise to music sessions, using a range of choreography and delivery methods, training approaches, teaching styles and equipment. Sessions may cover any of or a combination of Cardiovascular, Resistance, Core stability, Flexibility, Power and Motor Skills training. However, the qualification recognises that the experienced Studio Instructor who teaches regularly, attends workshops and conventions and keeps up to date with continuing personal development courses, may already processsome or all of the knowledge and skills required to be ready for Assessment - for example, you may have already completed Exercise & Fitness Knowledge Level 3 or have the necessary Advanced Teaching Skills. In such cases the instructor may only need to complete certain course module(s) or may even be able to proceed straight to assessment. An Information Pack with details of the full syllabus is available for you to check your knowledge and decide which course modules you need to complete. If you have any questions about any of the above and to receive a copy of the Pack, please email Liz Smith at Liz.Smith@theymca.org.uk, or get in touch with Julie Crofts on 01223 273813.
