General Course Information

Please read the following information carefully before booking your course - then click on the link at the bottom of this page to return to the Enrolment Instructions page and to either enrol Online or to download the Enrolment Form.

Timetables: Full-time Courses and Online Practical Training Days

All course days are very full and usually run from 9am - 6pm, although timings may vary. Students will be sent their Course Timetables two weeks prior to the start of the course, providing the balance of the costs has been paid. Course Manuals (for full-time students) and other student resources are available on the first day of the course/practical training day. Note: although every effort is made to keep to published timetables wherever possible, they may occasionally be subject to change.

Terms and Conditions

When you submit and sign the Enrolment Form or when you enrol Online, you will be asked to confirm that you have read and accept the Terms and Conditions. Please be sure therefore to read the Terms and Conditions (which are attached to the Enrolment Form) carefully. If you have any queries relating to the Terms and Conditions, please contact the Course Administrator at the YMCA Cambridge Office as follows:

  • Email: Julie.Crofts@theymca.org.uk
  • Tel: 01223 273813
  • We may alter these Terms and Conditions from time to time and post the new version on our website following which all use of our website will be governed by that version. You must check the terms and conditions on the website regularly.

    Practical Assessments

Unless otherwise stated, Practical Assessments usually take place 3-4 weeks after the end of a full-time course or online practical training days. Please make sure that you have the available time after the course to practise for assessment. Please note: Practical Assessments normally require you to bring one or two volunteers to take part in the practical session.

    Intensive Full-time Courses

Please note than all intensive courses are demanding. Students will also be expected to complete homework in the evenings and in the week between course dates, as well as revision for the Theory Paper. Please make sure therefore that you have the available home-study time needed during the course.

    Online Courses

In addition to this page, if you are thinking about signing up for an Online Course, please make sure you read the Online Course Information page. You will be asked to confirm that you have read and understand this page when you sign up.

    REPs CPD Points

All CYQ Career Development courses are recognised by the Register of Exercise Professionals (REPs) as Endorsed Training for Continuing Personal Development (CPD). Courses with CPD points can be used by members of the Register to maintain their position on the Register.

    Course Prerequisites

Where previous qualifications are a prerequisite of a course, for example, if you wish to enrol on the Circuit Training course and are required to hold a current Level 2 Exercise & Fitness Knowledge Certificate, you must complete the Accreditation of Prior Achievement (APA) Application Form. The APA Application Form is attached to the Enrolment Form. Download the Enrolment and APA Form here.

    Accreditation of Prior Achievement

If you think you already hold any part of the qualifications listed under the Course Description, then you may claim ‘Accreditation of Prior Achievement’. The APA Guidance Notes give full information on claiming APA. Download APA Guidance Notes here. The APA Application Form is attached to the Enrolment Form.
