TARGET CANDIDATESThis course is designed for: - Fitness Instructors who are seeking to develop their qualifications
- Those who are already working as Studio Resistance Instructors but who lack a recognised qualification
PREREQUISITESCandidates must be aged 16 or over and already hold: - Level 2 Certificate in Gym-based or Exercise to Music Instruction or equivalent
- NVQ Level 2 Certificate in Exercise & Fitness Knowledge
COURSE DESCRIPTIONThe Online course consists of the theoretical elements of the following subjects: - Principles of fitness and principles of resistance training
- Free weights and body weight exercises and technique
- Use and legalities of music
- Class structure
- Guidelines to teaching
- Setting up classes
- Health and safety considerations
The course includes One Practical Training Day and One Assessment Day held at the YMCA in Cambridge on the dates listed below. ASSESSMENT PROCEDUREAssessment is conducted at the YMCA in Cambridge and is in three parts: - Plan and prepare a Studio Resistance Training exercise session
- Instruct a Studio Resistance Training exercise session
- Note: you will be required to bring two volunteers with you to take part in the exercise session
- Evaluate the practical session and develop personal coaching practice
