The course explores a range of portable equipment that can be used away from the gym and the benefits of walking providing options to train in the home or office or outdoors. TARGET CANDIDATESThis course is designed for: - Instructors who are seeking to work towards the CYQ Certificate in Personal Training
- Those who wish to deliver progressive exercise programmes away from traditional gym equipment
- Gym Instructors or Fitness Supervisors who are seeking to enhance their qualifications
- Those who are already working as Personal Trainers but who lack a recognised qualification
PREREQUISITESCandidates must be aged 18 or over and must already hold: - Level 2 Certificate in Fitness Instruction or equivalent
- Note: if applying for the full Certificate in Personal Training, candidates must hold a Level 2 Certificate in Gym Instruction
- Current (achieved within the last three years) NVQ Level 2 Certificate in Exercise & Fitness Knowledge
- Candidates should provide evidence of ongoing industry experience
COURSE DESCRIPTIONThe Online course covers the theoretical elements of the following subjects: - Use of limited space
- Use of bodyweight exercises
- Use of small portable equipment
- Planning programmes using portable equipment
- Benefits of walking
- Considerations when training outside
- Health and safety considerations when training clients at home/their place of work/outside
The course includes Two Practical Training Days held at the YMCA in Cambridge starting on the date(s) listed below. ASSESSMENT PROCEDUREAssessment of qualification is conducted at the YMCA in Cambridge and is in three parts: - Design a programme card for a client/small group of clients designed for training outside, in the workplace or at home with walking as the main CV component
- Practical assessment of the candidate training the client(s) using the programme card
- Note: you will be required to bring your client with you to take part in the assessment
- Self-evaluation of candidate’s own performance
